Trek of 4,000 steps

Back

The path with 4,000 steps is a hike on the south slope of Mont Aigoual. It gets its name from the square in Valleraugue where the path starts before it turns into a rocky trail with steps 20 to 70 cm high which continue stealthily uphill.

You’ll come across a diverse range of vegetation as you climb higher: chestnut trees, beech trees, meadows and grassy limestone pastures.

From Valleraugue, the path takes you to the Météo France weather station where you’ll be greeted by breath-taking views from Mont Aigoual in the Cévennes National Park – when the weather is clement, you can see as far as the Mediterranean sea, the Alps and the Pyrenees.
